About Fireless Cremation®

Built by someone who actually ran the machines.

Fireless Cremation® was not developed from a laboratory bench or a specification sheet. It was developed from hands-on experience—loading, operating and improving the equipment one cycle at a time.

The Founder

Experience on the funeral home floor—not just on paper.

President & Co-Inventor
“Every design decision came from actually loading, running and unloading the system myself—not just engineering it on paper.”

Ed personally operated the first Fireless Cremation® units, learning firsthand what worked, what did not, and what funeral directors and grieving families needed from a water cremation system.

That hands-on experience became the foundation for Fireless Cremation®'s patented process, co-invented by Ed. The process uses ethanol as a co-solvent to achieve complete lipid dissolution at atmospheric pressure and roughly 160°F.

It is a technology designed around the practical problems operators experienced with earlier alkaline hydrolysis systems—including cycle time, dissolution, loading and retrieval, and recovery of bone fragments.

Fireless Cremation® is Ed's latest environmental venture, but not his first. His career has focused on bringing practical clean technologies to market. Today, that experience is being applied to one of the most personal services a funeral home provides.

Before Fireless Cremation®

A career built around practical clean technology.

Founder

Cycled Life

In 2010, his company sold the first alkaline hydrolysis system to a funeral director. He contracted Bio-Response Solutions to design and manufacture this Aquamation® system. The system failed to complete dissolutions, so he closed the business. Incredibly, these systems were still being sold, so in 2019, he launched Fireless Cremation to address the numerous problems with first-generation water cremation systems.
